|
Three water quality BMP demonstration projects were installed on the grounds of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer School, a 30-acre site that serves as the headwaters of an un-named tributary to the Little Neshaminy Creek. Projects focus on re-establishing native vegetation to promote a natural stormwater runoff filtering process, as well as to slow the speed of runoff to allow infiltration to occur.
Vegetation was added to enhance an existing wetland area, to
retrofit an existing stormwater detention basin, and also to establish a
riparian buffer to stabilize an eroded stormwater channel. The BMPs will
also serve as an outdoor laboratory for the 600 students who attend the
school. |
