During an expansion of Aqua America's Bryn Mawr headquarters in 2005,
Lower Merion Township's Environmental Advisory Council recommended the
addition of bioretention areas to the site’s parking lot to help
alleviate the overflow of runoff into Lancaster Avenue. Parking lot
islands near the entrance were planted with native vegetation to capture
runoff from the parking lot, which helps to filter sediment and other
pollutants from runoff. Additionally, the bioretention areas increase
the site’s capacity to infiltrate runoff to promote groundwater
recharge. |
