Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Education Grant
Completed in 2004
The Department of Environmental Protection awarded a $50,000 environmental education grant to the Center for Sustainable Communities to develop curricula and workshops to assist educators in teaching environmental studies.
Seven researchers and two high school teachers involved with the project met to initiate work on developing the curriculum. Each researcher focused on a different aspect of the curriculum depending on their expertise. Dr. Sharon Moran, a Research Fellow with the CSC, was responsible for coordinating the research.
The curriculum addressed areas such as environmental science, aquatic biology issues, and planning issues related to environmental education. The project and curricula has been provided to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for use by educators in the state.
