A member of the Temple University faculty since 1987, Professor Libby’s expertise is in education and management of public landscapes. A former professional in the museum field, she has a background in developing museums and historic sites and has knowledge of both cultural tourism and identifying potential cultural sites. Professor Libby also has expertise in the knowledge of historic landscapes and specializes in landscape history. Professor Libby teaches Public Horticulture, Woody Plants, the History of Landscape Architecture — American Traditions, and the History of Landscape Architecture — Western Traditions. She has worked with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to help improve public environments beyond specialized gardens. Professor Libby contributed an essay to Pioneers of American Landscape Design, a book produced by the National Park Service. Her essay is a comprehensive look at the work of Marian Cruger Coffin, one of the first women to enter the field of landscape architecture. She is an associated faculty member of the Temple University Ambler Center for Sustainable Communities. She became one of the trustees of the Abington Art Center in fall 2000, and as a trustee will be working with the Abington Township Parks Department to enhance the gardens at Alverthorpe Manor in Abington. She is also a volunteer in Jenkintown, helping to improve the public environment. She has previously been a consultant for Colonial Williamsburg, determining better ways for the popular location to promote its rich history. She is also part of the Women in Historic Preservation International Network.
