Dr. Whiting’s expertise is in herbaceous plants, plant taxonomy or plant classification, and plant breeding. A Temple University faculty member since 1979, he has taught Plant Taxonomy, Plant Genetics and Breeding, Herbaceous Plants I and II, Plant Ecology, and the Botany labs. Dr. Whiting is part of a group working with the Environmental Protection Agency on one of the centerpiece exhibits for the 2001 Philadelphia Flower Show. Dr. Whiting is an associated faculty member of the Temple University Ambler Center for Sustainable Communities. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Perennial Plant Association, the North American Rock Garden Society, and the American Rose Society.
