Ernest D. Weiler
is a seasoned manager and environmental,
health, safety and product regulatory
professional with extensive global
experience in the chemical processing
industry. Dr. Weiler has 35 years of
experience with Rohm and Haas, where he held
various management and executive leadership
positions in research, technical
development, technical service, toxicology,
product regulatory compliance, and
environmental health and safety. He managed
global teams of specialist and integrated
product safety, health, safety and
environmental requirements into various
global enterprise-wide work processes to
meet corporate expectations as well as
regulatory requirements.
Dr. Weiler
coordinated the global implementation of the
industries’ voluntary Responsible Care
Program and managed the first independent
verification process at Rohm and Haas. He
has developed and implemented robust work
processes designed to assure regulatory
compliance and support sustainable business
strategies. He developed screening tools by
which business groups can rank order
products and uses based upon inherent risks
and take appropriate actions. He has
extensive acquisition experience, with
special emphasis on cost-effective
integration of EHS programs. He is also a
seasoned issue manager. Dr. Weiler worked
on product contamination recall issues,
manufacturing quality improvement
activities, complex chemical regulatory
driven issues, and helped to develop
strategies to address major toxicological
challenges.
Dr. Weiler
has worked in Switzerland, France, and the
U.S. He is fluent in English and German, and
has a good working knowledge of French. Dr.
Weiler was a Ph.D. Fellow at the University
of Basel in Switzerland. He received his
Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, his
M.B.A from Temple University, and a B.S.
from the University of Minnesota. He is a
member of the American Chemical Society and
has been active in trade associations and in
various industry groups. He has published 40
articles, prepared 15 technical
presentations, and holds 41 patents.
