West Marshall Street of Norristown is a retail district – a center of the largest National Register Historic District in Pennsylvania. As a part of the revitalization effort of this district, the group identified a suitable location for a new small-scale park in order to increase the pedestrian connectivity.

Revitalization of the Fox Chase-Newtown Railroad

The service of the historic Fox Chase- Newtown railroad line was discontinued in 1983 after a serious accident occurred. The students analyzed the potentiality of a rail-to-trail project. They also discussed the possible connections to the existing open space networks as well as inter-modal linkages.
Flooding in the Pennypack: Utilizing GIS as a
Means to a Solution

The project focused on the implementation of the Best Management Practices (BMPs) using Hatboro Borough of Southeastern Pennsylvania as a case study. The students analyzed the flooding issues of Pennypack Watershed and identified feasible locations to implement three types of BMPs: green roofs, wetland construction, and porous pavements.
The GIS-based suitability analysis was used to identify these locations. Finally, with the help of multiple field visits, the students verified the output locations and concluded with remarks.
Chester County Mortgage Company Locations: Disparities Related to Racial Demographics in Chester County

The purpose of this project is to determine if mortgage companies in Chester County are more likely to be located in primarily white neighborhoods than in neighborhoods with higher percentages of African Americans and Hispanics.
The project will also show homeownership rates in the county for comparative purposes.
Milford Township: Agricultural Preservation Overlay District

The goal of this project is to provide support to Milford Township, Bucks County, for the creation of a new Agricultural Preservation Overlay District as a growth management tool.
The establishment of this district would allow Milford Township to limit the uses that are permitted in the district and establish stringent regulations for residential development within the district.
Improving Energy Assistance for Philadelphia Families

The project mapped the Philadelphia low-income housing and explained the Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), its goal, qualification guidelines. The project discussed how families can get access to LIHEAP funds and services and showed the differences between neighborhood energy centers and intake sites.
The project concludes with the suggestion that in order to better serve Philadelphia families in need of energy assistance, the energy office should consider adding or relocating several NEC sites.
