During World War I the Council on National Defense in the U.S. requested that the Association organize various women’s groups with agricultural interests to form the Woman’s Land Army of America. The Land Army trained 20,000 “farmerettes” to work the land and provide food for U.S. and European citizens and troops. |
Temple University Ambler has an active, diverse community of alumni and friends. As a member of that community, we encourage you to take part in Ambler events, to keep us informed of where you are, what you are doing, and how we can best serve your interests.
The mission of the Office of Development and Alumni
Affairs is to create an always-open bridge between the campus and our alumni and friends.
Over 1,500 of our alums are graduates from the Ambler College (the home of horticulture, landscape architecture, and planning degree programs), while more than 12,000 campus alums are graduates from other Temple degree programs who have taken 50% or more of their courses
at the Ambler campus.
Whether you are an Ambler College or Ambler campus
alum, this is your online resource for news, alumni
updates, and campus events.

Cultural Affairs Series: Monica Moran Brandies
Topic: "Sustainable Gardening"
Thursday, September 25, 7 p.m., Learning Center Auditorium
All of the air we breathe, the water we use and drink, and the soil from which we get our food is recycled from the beginning of time. So why should we be surprised to know that we can have a sustainable garden, and that it is actually easier than using all the methods that damage the environment? Monica Moran Brandies calls it “Common Sense Gardening” and she has been doing it for years in several states. In the course of one evening you can move from being part of the planet’s problems to being part of the solution.
An Alumni Garden Party will be held prior to this lecture in the Formal Gardens from 5 to 6:30 p.m.This program is part of the Ambler Campus Cultural Affairs Series. To learn more about the Cultural Affairs Series, visit www.ambler.temple.edu/culturalseries.
