Undergraduate and graduate students who have successfully completed degree requirements in May 2013, January 2013, or August 2012, are invited to participate in the 126th Annual Commencement of Temple University on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Liacouras Center, Main Campus, and the School of Environmental Design Graduation Ceremony at 3:30 p.m., at the Ambler Learning Center Auditorium.

Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, and Community and Regional Planning graduates are encouraged to attend the Commencement at the Liacouras Center May 16 to represent both the College of Liberal Arts and the School of Environmental Design.
Dean Teresa Scott Soufas will ask that the College of Liberal Arts and School of Environmental Design graduates stand and be recognized. It is exhilarating and conveys a sense of pride to have graduates from the School of Environmental Design in the audience. Your Graduation day is a very special one. Add to this momentous occasion by standing up for CLA and SED!
Graduates, on their own or with family members, can travel to Main Campus and return to the Ambler Campus on special shuttle buses. If you choose to carpool, we will give you a free parking pass.
From now through Saturday, March 30, graduates may log on and reserve their tickets to the Commencement Ceremony at www.temple.edu/commencement. Parking passes may be picked up from West Hall Room 109, with tickets - dates for ticket pick-up will be April 22 to 26. |
The required dress for the academic procession at both the Commencement at the Liacouras Center and School of Environmental Design Graduation Ceremony is cap, gown, and the appropriate hood.
Academic regalia can be purchased online from now through April 29, 2013 at www.temple.edu/bookstore. Students can chose to pick up their cap and gown at the Ambler Campus Bookstore in Bright Hall within a few days of their order. After the deadline for online ordering, students can walk into the Main Campus bookstore up to the day of graduation and pay and pick up their regalia/
All guests of Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Community and Regional Planning graduates are required to have tickets to be admitted to the Liacouras Center.
Eligible graduates will be able to reserve up to four (4) Commencement tickets from now through Saturday, March 30 at www.temple.edu/commencement.
You will also be directed to reserve tickets for the School of Environmental Design ceremony held at the Ambler Campus that afternoon on this site but tickets are not required for this ceremony. Please note that although tickets are not required to the SED Ceremony, space is limited in our auditorium. We ask that you RSVP once you receive your invitation so we can accurately inform you of seating options. The ceremony will also be live streamed in the Learning Center Lobby and guests are welcome to view it from this location.
Eligible graduates are entitled to five Commencement announcements. They may be obtained when you pick up your tickets and parking pass in the Office of Academic Advising and Career Development (West Hall, Room 109). Additional announcements will be sold in packages of 25 at any of the Temple University Bookstores for $19.98 per package.
Because of the anticipated crowd, Parking Services has designated a parking lot for each school and college. Ambler graduates who drive to Main Campus will be given one free parking pass only when they pick up their Commencement tickets. Parking passes may be picked up from West Hall Room 109. Dates for tickets pick-up will be April 22 to 26.
On the morning of May 6, a Temple bus will depart from the Ambler Campus Visitors Parking Lot (Lot 1) at 8:00 a.m.
The bus will stop at the Health Sciences Campus and will continue to the Liacouras Center.
After the ceremony, a bus will depart Main Campus to return to the Ambler Campus at 1:00 p.m. from in front of the Law School on Broad Street (directly across from the Liacouras Center). Please call 267-468-8020 to reserve seating on the bus.
Doors of the Liacouras Center will open at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Commencement. Graduates are to go to the loading dock entrance of the Liacouras Center, which is near the Cecil B. Moore Avenue side of the building. Graduates should be in academic regalia and ready for assembly. Please form in a single file line behind the sign designating your degree. Look for signs directing you to the proper assembly point.
If you are late and the academic procession has begun, please wait until all schools have entered the arena; then be seated at the rear of the student body. Do not join your school.

All School of Environmental Design (Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, and Community and Regional Planning) graduates and their guests are invited to attend the Graduation Ceremony on the afternoon of May 16, at 3:30 p.m., in the Learning Center Auditorium. Academic regalia is required for graduating students.
A reception follows the ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in the Formal Gardens (Ambler Campus Dining Center in case of inclement weather). School of Environmental Design and Amber Campus graduates and their guests are invited.
Family and friends of School of Environmental Design graduates may park in the Learning Center Parking Lot, directly behind the Ambler Learning Center. There is no charge for parking. Once the Learning Center lot is full, guests may park in the Visitors Parking Lot on Meetinghouse Road.
All Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, and Community and Regional Planning graduates participating in the graduation ceremony must report to Dixon Hall Room Room 101 by 2:30 p.m. Class photographs will be taken on the Terrace of the Formal Gardens beginning at 2:45 p.m. Then all students will be lined up and ready for the 3:30 p.m. processional.

Latin honors are calculated using the following criteria:
- Completion of at least 60 credits at Temple University.
- Summa Cum Laude - Top 2 percent of each college's distribution of GPAs for the graduating cohort.
- Magna Cum Laude - Next 5 percent of each college's distribution of GPAs for the graduating cohort.
- Cum Laude - Next 9 percent of each college's distribution of GPAs for the graduating cohort.
- For the School of Environmental Design, the distribution is as follows: Summa Cum Laude - 3.94 or higher; Magna Cum Laude - 3.87; Cum Laude - 3.72.
In order to receive your diploma you must clear all holds, including library fines, and complete the Financial Aid exit interview, if applicable. Ambler’s Financial Aid office is located in West Hall Room 103. The Financial Aid exit interview may be completed online at www.temple.edu/bursar. If you choose to complete the exit interview online, you will need your aggregate borrowing total. You may find this information at www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA.
