AFFIRMATIVE ACTION COMPLIANCE AND INVESTIGATION

What is the Affirmative Action Compliance and Investigation Division?

Implementing Temple's nondiscrimination policy and the University's Affirmative Action Program is a cooperative endeavor that extends to every school, college, office, and organization at Temple.  The Compliance and Investigation Division serves as the focal point of Temple's institution-wide efforts for equal opportunity, equal access and affirmative action, providing direction through information, assistance, and complaint resolution.

INFORMATION

Temple's Affirmative Action Program is written, updated, and published by the Compliance and Investigation Division of the Office of Multicultural Affairs.  The Division manages the preparation of internal and external compliance reports that inform adminstrators' affirmative action.  For employee orientation and supervisory training, and for student research projects, the Division staff provides the reference materials and examples from University practices that explain Temple's commitment ot equal opportunity and affirmative action.  The department maintains a library of the implementing regulations and guidance for federal, state, and municipal laws prohibiting discrimination and requiring affirmative action.

ASSISTANCE

Anyone in the Temple community who has a question about affirmative action or a concern about discrimination is encouraged to call a staff member.  Consulting the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the outset helps assure equal opportunity in the procedures for recruitment, advertising, hiring, employee testing, promotion, and helps prevent discrimination in individual decisions and actions.

COMPLAINT RESOLUTION

The Compliance and Investigation Division is responsible for investigating the complaints of Temple employees and students who believe they have been treated unfairly on the basis of race or color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, disability, marital status or veteran status.  The staff will attempt to resolve the complaint informally.  If a complaint cannot be resolved informally, a formal investigation will be conducted.
