Alpha Epsilon Phi was founded nationally on October 24, 1909, at Barnard College by seven Jewish women who bonded together against discrimination. Their names were: Ida Beck, Lee Reis, Helen Phillips, Rose Gerstein, Rose Salmowitz, and Augustina (Tina) Hess.
The Phi Theta chapter, here at Temple University was founded on May 12, 1984, by Lizanne Berger, Myra K. Chack, Laura Lanutti, Barbara A. Rose, Elaine Feldman, Sharon N. Singer, and Sherry Pinsky.

Mascot- Giraffe because they have the biggest heart and stand tall above the crowd
Our mascot's name is "Twigga" which means Giraffe in Swahili
Jewel- Pearl because it represents growing beauty over time
Colors- Green and White
Green for growth and White for fellowship
Open Motto- "Multa corda una causa- Many hearts, one purpose"
Flower- Lilly of the Valley because it represents simple beauty, and because it is green and white
