Internships in the Advertising Department are distinctive. One distinguishing characteristic is that
the Department will only give credit for the cooperative learning Professional Internships, only available
through the Department. These Professional Internships are also distinctive because they guarantee the
fortunate student that:
-
The work assignment at the agency will be modeled on an entry-level professional
position in one department.
-
A Principal (e.g. President, Partner) of the agency will be a Mentor to the Intern, meeting
with the intern several times for informal free-form dialogue.
-
The Agency will make every effort to structure the Internship so that when the student
completes the internship, the Intern will exit with some professional product as
evidence of their experience.
-
At the conclusion of the Professional Internship, the Agency will provide the Advertising
Department with a regular and formal Personnel Evaluation of the Intern’s work on an
appropriate Agency Human Resources form.
The result of this unique opportunity will be real professional experience, evaluated in a professional
way, and conducted in a mentoring environment by some of the best in the business. The focus of
the semester’s work will be on professional performance in a cooperative enterprise evaluated by
experienced professionals.
