About the ACMA program

Film and media arts associate professor LeAnn Erickson leads a discussion on computer editing at Temple’s Digital Video Editing Center

The American Culture and Media Arts Program is a joint major between the American Studies Program (in the College of Liberal Arts) and the School of Communications and Theater.

Founded in 1999, it is one of the first programs to bridge two schools at Temple.

The major is a response to the fact that mediated culture -- film, television, radio, photography, print journalism -- has come to dominate the experience of Americans, while at the same time American values and traditions inform our creation and reception of the media.
