The Department of African American Studies at Temple University announces openings for two nontenure-track visiting Lecturer positions for Academic Year 2007-2008, with a possibility of continuation for a second academic year. We seek candidates skilled in one of two areas of specialization: African-American socio-political history or socio-behavioral science relevant to African and African-American populations. More than 1,800 undergraduate and 40 graduate students enroll in departmental courses each term. We also seek persons who have experience in community research and public policy in areas of education, health, criminal justice, and economic development. Candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, and possess a demonstrable record of teaching excellence. A Ph.D. is required for the appointment.
