The President's Advisory Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics (PACIA) was reactivated this year. It consists of 15 members, 6 faculty members and two administrators with faculty appointments, along with other administrators, students and alumni. It held its organizing meeting in October 2007 which was attended by both President Hart and Provost Lisa Staiano-Coico. The core of the PACIA's work this year is to serve as members of the Steering Committee which is conducting the NCAA
Recertification of the athletics program. In that capacity, faculty serve on the Steering Committee and one of the subcommittees, Academic Integrity, Governance and Rules Compliance, or Student Athlete Equity and Well-being. The self-study will be filed with the NCAA on May 1, 2008 and will be followed by a peer review visit during Fall 2008.
