Fall 2007
As of 12/4/07, the Lectures & Forums Committee has awarded $2,500 of its $5,000 budget for cross-disciplinary or broad-based lectures and presentations. Sponsoring departments have included Art History, Music, Dance, English, CITE dept., and TAUP. The number of proposals so far this year is slightly higher than at this point last year when $1,950 had been allocated. The committee encourages the submission of proposals for lectures for the spring semester.
By rights the committee should not be functioning. Only 4 members participated this fall; at least 6 members has been the norm over the past decade. One of our four members leaves the university at the end of this semester so it is imperative that additional members be found. Lastly, of the three remaining members one generously continues to participate this semester despite the fact that his term has expired. I urged attention to this matter in September.
