University Honors Program Oversight Committee
Report of the Honors
Oversight Committee: |
The Honors Oversight Committee (HOC) dealt with two overarching items during the 2007-2008 academic year. One was to establish a new set of requirements for both incoming students and transfer students in anticipation of Gen Ed. The other was to ease the transition from the lower-level Certification Program into the upper-level Honors Scholars Program. The embarrassment of riches the Honors Program has experienced over the past few years, with a dramatic increase in the yield of applicants producing many more students than our facilities can handle, emboldened HOC to raise standards substantially. The two overarching items, taking into account the dramatic surge in enrollments, were taken into account with the proposal for a new set of requirements for Honors Certification and for the Honors Scholars Program |
In addition, HOC members attended the Honors Certification ceremonies, represented the faculty at Honors Luncheons for newly admitted students, and joined students at the Honors Ball.
