Student Awards Selection Committee: Spring 2008

The Student Awards Selection Committee met twice during the spring 2008 semester.  At the first meeting the Committee interviewed the seven finalists to be the student commencement speaker and listened to their speeches.  After that the Committee presented a list of two students in ranked order to the Board of Trustees.  The appropriate subcommittee of the Board along with President Hart subsequently agreed with the first choice of the Student Awards Selection Committee.

The second meeting was devoted to the selections of Memorial Award winners.  The Committee chose winners for Wachman Awards (one freshman and one sophomore), Feinstone Awards (one each for a sophomore, junior and senior), and Walker Awards (one each for a sophomore and junior).  The Committee also forwarded a ranked list of six finalists for Kean Awards to the Kean family, who subsequently agreed with the Committee’s choice of the (three) winners.
