Dear Friend:
Greetings from the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at Temple University! The fall semester is in full swing, midterms are just around the corner and our newest students have settled in to their busy lives on North Broad Street. As I walk across campus each morning on the way to my office in Anderson Hall, I am reminded why I’m so proud to be CLA’s dean and why the college needs the support of its alumni and friends each year: our 5,540 students.
CLA’s bright, talented students achieve great things in the classroom, in the academic sphere and in the community. One particularly inspiring student is Tori Ford, a junior honors student and criminal justice major.
Tori grew up in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, and came to Temple looking to make a difference. In addition to her work as an Honors peer mentor, she has built houses in Kentucky with Habitat for Humanity for the past two summers. She intends to return next summer – through Temple’s Appalachian Experience – as a site leader. Her work in the Criminal Justice Department has led to her interest in counseling victims and juvenile offenders alike. Tori is eager to intern at a victims’ center in Philadelphia this year and to pursue her doctorate in psychology upon graduation.
Tori is just one of CLA’s students achieving academic success while making a difference in their communities. And, like so many of our students, she depends on private support to make her Temple experience possible. Gifts from people like you help to provide:
On behalf of students like Tori and the faculty and staff of the College of Liberal Arts, I thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
