Temple Times fact sheet

Temple Times: Temple's newspaper for the university community.

Size: 4–12 pages (typically 8)

Circulation: 15,000

Audience: Staff and faculty members, as well as students, alumni and community members.

Distribution: Bimonthly on Fridays during the academic year, placed in locations around the Main, Center City, Ambler and Tyler campuses, and the Health Sciences Center. Temple Times content is available online and updated regularly at www.temple.edu/newsroom. Select headlines are included in the daily “Temple Today” e-mail.

Content: The Temple Times is produced by the Office of News Communications. Issues are planned two to three weeks in advance, and stories are written by full-time professional writers who cover specific beats within the university. (See a list of staff writers and the subject areas they cover.)

The Temple Times focuses on the achievements and work of current staff, faculty and students, as well as on new initiatives and programs, changes in policy, and other timely news that informs the work and academic life of the university community. In general, the Temple Times gives priority to stories that convey Temple’s strengths and help connect the work of staff and faculty across the university’s many schools, colleges and administrative units.

The Temple Times also includes listings of faculty and staff media coverage, awards and achievements, and research grants, presentations and publications. Faculty and staff members can submit their recent news to the Office of News Communications at newscomm@temple.edu (subject line: “awards & research”) or through the online form.

The Temple Times does not carry advertisements (See “The Temple News” below).

Awards: The Temple Times was awarded the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2006 District II Gold Accolade Award for newspapers in tabloid format.

TUcalendar and Temple Today: Temple Today is a daily e-mail that includes select events from the TUcalendar, as well as Temple news and announcements. On Thursday mornings, Temple Today includes selected Temple Times headlines with links to stories online. Submit Temple-sponsored events at least two weeks in advance at http://calendar.temple.edu or to tucalendar@temple.edu.
