Publications

Philip H. Demp, adjunct clinical professor at the School of Podiatric Medicine, adjunct professor in the Department of Mathematics, and adjunct professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was informed that a summary of his research has been accepted by the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications. His research consists of a mathematical model of the metatarsal length pattern of the human foot; this model will be tested as a clinical decision tool which a surgeon could use to reconstruct the metatarsal lengths. This research is now part of a research grant funded by NIH, and a collaboration team has been formed consisting of the Gait Study Center of Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications will publish the summary in the June issue of Mathematics Today, which is distributed to over 5,000 members of the institute.

Herbert Phillips, professor of finance for the Fox School of Business, published Advances in Quantitative Analysis of Finance and Accounting in June 2008.

Tracey Vlahovic, associate professor of podiatric medicine and orthopedics, and Jason Piriano, associate professor of podiatric surgery, co-authored “Multiple venous malformations in the lower extremity,” which was published in the June 21 issue of Advanced Skin Wound Care.

Albert Wertheimer, professor of pharmacy at the School of Medicine, edited the book Modern Pharmaceutical Industry: A Primer, which was published in summer 2008.
